With six bogeys and a double bogey in the third round, the chance for a top placement is blown away even for Maja Stark, who won the US Open as recently as a couple of weeks ago.
The 25-year-old star climbed in the second round after a nightmare-like start to the first day, and is now at a total of +6 after the third round. With that, Stark is tied for 26th place ahead of Sunday's final round.
Minjee Lee, Australia, leads at six strokes under par – four strokes ahead of Jeeno Thitikul, Thailand. The two are the only players who have a result under par on the wind-swept course in Frisco, Texas.
On Friday, six out of a total of seven starting Swedish women were eliminated, as they did not clear the qualifying limit of +7.
"Just unbelievably ready to go home. Yesterday I was sad – today I'm completely empty. Golf is such a cruel sport", writes Linn Grant, who was at +8 after the second round, in a post on Instagram.
"When it's going well, you're unstoppable. But when golf turns its back on you, the smallest mistake has the greatest earthquake effects and creates ripples on the water", writes Grant.
